Exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan opened in St. Petersburg

An Exhibition titled "Important Knot on the Great Silk Road", timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Turkmenistan, opened in St. Petersburg in the new building of the Russian National Library. The exposition introduces the historical and cultural heritage of Turkmenistan. Visitors to the Exhibition can learn about the ancient cities and regions of the country, see the architectural monuments of Merv, Kunya-Urgench and Western Turkmenistan.

Among the exhibits are publications with the Turkmen national heroic epics (“Gyorogly”, “Khyurlukga and Khemra”, “Sayat and Khemra”, “Gorkut-ata”), destans and works of classics of Turkmen literature.

The Exhibition presents the scientists of Turkmenistan, the row is headed by A.K.Kekilov (specialist in study of literature), B.P.Palvanova (historian), G.O.Charyev (philosopher), A.G.Babaev (geographer), S.K.Karanov (ophthalmologist), F.F.Sultanov (physiologist) and many others. A separate section is devoted to the Turkmen theater and cinematography.

The showpieces of the Exhibition also introduce the national carpet weaving as well as horse breeding.

The Exhibition will run until March 20.
