EU Special Representative for Central Asia visits Turkmenistan

On 23 May a meeting with the European Union delegation, which arrived in the capital on a working visit, headed by the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian, was held in Turkmenistan’s Parliament.

Peter Burian reported that “the European community is ready to extend partnership with Turkmenistan, which was one of the first to launch consultations on adapting sustainable development goals to national conditions”.

Within the framework of the meeting the sides exchanged ideas on prospects of interparliamentary cooperation.The state information agency TDH reports that the participation of Turkmen Parliament members in designing a new cooperation strategy between the European Union and the Central Asia countries was on the agenda.

In the course of the visit members of the EU delegation are scheduled to hold meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as with some Turkmen non-governmental organizations.
