Employees of Lebap cement factory complain about the fraud by executives

Employees of the cement factory located in the village of Garlyk, Lebap velayat, told correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” about fraudulent schemes used by the factory’s executives.

The plant was commissioned in 2013. As social support to their employees the plant’s administration promised to sell three tons of cement a year to each employee at the state price, i.e. a 50 kilo sack of cement at 10.4 manats.

Over a year ago the quota was reduced to 50-100 kilos and the waiting list is 6 to 7 months.

At the market a sack of cement produced by the Garlyk factory is sold at 50 to 55 manats.

According to the employees, the company’s executives sell the sacks of cements, which they retain from their employees, at 33 manats. Thus, the factory administration does not only fail to honour social obligations to their staff but make profit on them.

The company employees also emphasize that the plant has not yet reached the projected capacity of 1,4 million tons of cement annually. Only one manufacturing workshop is operating at the moment.

Let us recall that in 2017 executives of Bakharlin cement factory of “Turkmencement” production association under the Ministry of Industry were arrested during the anti-corruption campaign in the government and state-run enterprises.
