A mass planting campaign of wild plants took place in the Kopetdag State Nature Reserve of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan. The event was held within the framework of the National Forestry Program to strengthen vegetation cover, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

More than 150 seedlings of pistachio, almond and Turkmen juniper (archi) were planted in the reserve and along the Bakhcha River. Representatives of the Agrarian Party and the Environmental Protection Department of the Ahal Velayat also joined the planting.

According to the elder of the reserve D. Seyitmuhammedov, seedlings of local species are better adapted to the climate and soils and will strengthen the banks of the river. Environmental protection inspector A. Mergenov added that in addition to the reserve, environmental supervision extends to recreation areas, where fire and environmental safety rules are explained.
