In Turkmenistan, on the first Sunday of April, the national holiday “A drop of water is a grain of gold”, which was established in 1995, was traditionally celebrated.
In this regard, the head of the “Ecodurmush” public organization, Aynabat Atayeva, spoke on the pages of CentralAsia.news about the importance of water resources and their careful attitude to them in Turkmenistan.
At present time, the country is implementing large-scale program measures aimed at the rational use and careful conservation of water resources.In recent years, a lot of work has been done on the protection and prudent use of water.
The country introduces water-saving technologies into practice, in the construction of hydro-economic facilities and systems, widely applies best practices and latest scientific achievements.
In order to provide the country's population with clean drinking water, modern drinking water plants and water treatment plants have been built, work has been launched to build new and increase the capacity of existing reservoirs.
The expert emphasized that the construction of the largest modern hydrotechnical structure of the Turkmen lake “Altyn asyr” clearly shows that the country is steadily adhering to its obligations for environmental improvement both within the state and in the region as a whole.
