Eating exclusively fast food led to blindness of an American teenager

In the USA, a 12-year-old boy lost his sight due to a monotonous diet of fast food. A medical examination showed that the cause of optic nerve atrophy was a serious deficiency of vitamins in the child’s body, reports snob.ru with reference to the Daily Mail.

To complicate matters, the autistic teenager had a strong fear of certain food textures. As a result, his diet consisted exclusively of burgers, French fries, donuts and packaged juices.

At the beginning of 2024, the boy showed the first signs of deteriorating vision - he complained of temporary darkening of his eyes in the morning and evening hours. The condition rapidly deteriorated, and after six weeks the teenager began to lose the ability to move independently, constantly encountering obstacles.

The crisis came when one morning the child lost his sight completely.

Diagnostics revealed an acute deficiency of essential nutrients and vitamins critical for the functioning of the optic nerves. Experts, despite intensive therapy and vitamin supplements, predict that vision loss may be irreversible.
