The national tree planting action was held in Turkmenistan on Saturday with participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and members of the government. Each resident of the country planted 30 saplings this day.
And all in all within 2020 in Turkmenistan 25 million saplings of deciduous, coniferous, fruit-trees and grapes will be planted in honour of the 25th anniversary of neutrality.
One of the key directions of the foreign policy of neutral Turkmenistan is cooperation with the United Nations and other authoritative organisations in the sphere of “green” diplomacy.Today Turkmenistan actively co-operates with the UN Development Program and United Nations Environment Programme, Global Environment Facility, International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), and many other international and regional structures.
Turkmenistan urges the world community to pay the most steadfast attention to ecological calamity of the Aral Sea.The air masses formed in the zone of ecological disaster caused by the drying of the Aral Sea has the extremely negative influence on nature, climate, general ability to life of the people living in the Aral region and far beyond its limits.
During presidency in IFAS at the initiative of Turkmenistan on April 12, 2018 and on May 28, 2019 resolutions of UN General Assembly On cooperation between the United Nations Organization and the International Fund for the Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) were accepted.
Turkmenistan during the current 75th session of UN General Assembly will continue the initiative realisation about creation of the United Nations Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin (UN SPAS).
