Dursoltan Taganova released from a deportation facility of Istanbul

On 27 September, 2021 the human rights center “Memorial” reported that the Turkmen activist Dursoltan Taganova was placed in a deportation facility “Selim-pasha” in Istanbul.

At about 5 p.m. on 26 September two police officers visited the apartment where Taganova is renting a room but she was not at home. The law enforcement officers told a tenant who opened the door that the young woman had been summoned to the police station where she needed to sign some documents.

After Dursoltan Taganova had spent three months in a deportation facility following her detention in a protest she applied for obtaining a refugee status. Awaiting for the decision the woman obtained the right to legally stay in Turkey.

A correspondent of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that the Migration Office of Turkmenistan had not been informed of that and the young woman was detained. On 29 September, 2021 in the afternoon her attorney provided the required documents and Dursoltan was released.
