The prices for medications in Turkmenistan are now indicated only in state-run pharmacies. The shop assistants explain this by the fact that the prices often need to be altered to indicate the price increase.
The correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that compared to the previous year the prices have doubled both in privately-owned and state-run pharmacies.
Moreover, it has recently become problematic to purchase normal saline (sodium chloride and Ringer’s solution) in pharmacies, which is used for IVs and, for instance, during novocaine administration.
Normal saline used to be manufactured in Turkmenistan from imported ingredients. It is reported that the Ministry of Healthcare is currently experiencing a shortage of funds to purchase them.
As we have previously reported, due to a continuous price hike the residents of Turkmenistan have switched to buying medications per piece rather than in packs.
