Doctor warns: frequent consumption of French fries can be as harmful as smoking

Endocrinologist Maria Kaloshina draws attention to the dangers of regularly consuming French fries from fast food restaurants. According to her, this can significantly increase the risk of developing cancer, “MIR 24” reports.

The expert claims that one serving of French fries contains the same amount of aldehydes as a cigarette. These dangerous toxins are produced by frying in oil and, when ingested, can contribute to cancer.

The specialist notes that in fast food establishments, deep-frying oil is changed infrequently. This leads to a build-up of combustion products that are absorbed not only into potatoes, but also into other fried foods such as shrimp, squid, onions and cheese sticks.

However, Kaloshina emphasizes that moderate consumption of French fries does not pose a serious health threat. People who lead a healthy lifestyle and do not have serious illnesses can afford a small portion (about six bars) once a week. However, this does not apply to people suffering from diabetes, obesity or low acid gastritis.
