Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov in a telephone conversation on Tuesday with Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed the possibility of organizing an official visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Qatar.
They emphasized that contacts at the highest state level are the main factor in developing bilateral cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in its press release on the talks.
The sides also emphasized the importance of the joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari commission on trade and economic cooperation, and agreed to hold its third meeting in the near future.
The top diplomats stressed the need to organize political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Qatar by the end of this autumn.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Qatar were established in 1996.
