Defenders of Fatherland in Works of Renowned Turkmen Artists

On the eve of Defenders of the Fatherland Day the Museum of Fine Arts launched a themed exposition of paintings and sculptures by Turkmen artists. The majority of works presented here depict how the military servicemen are held in high esteem by our society.

For example, in Border Guard’s Family, the painting by the people’s artist of Turkmenistan, Yakup Annanurov, the author shows the serviceman surrounded by his family. The head of the family, his wife and children cannot hide their positive emotions.

The toddler on a tricycle salutes his father whom he considers his personal commander, while the older son, touched by the scene, is watching them with a smile on his face.

We can guess how happy the guard himself is by his euphoric mood.A close-knit, loving family is a secure base for a warrior upholding a peaceful and happy life in the country.

S.Yaranov’s The Leave of Absence depicts how a soldier on leave is received with honor upon arrival in his native village. The young warrior is greeted by grey-haired elders, and they solemnly walk through the village together.

Even stout mulberry trees resemble the guard of honor welcoming the defender of the Fatherland. The family and fellow villagers are proud of their soldier who has distinguished himself by service.

Distant Border Post by the people’s artist of Turkmenistan, Izzat Klychev, is about a difficult and important service of border guards. An equine team is inspecting the border high in the sun-drenched mountains.

A lopsided electricity pole draws the attention of vigilant guards, and a soldier dismounts from his horse to investigate it thoroughly. The painter visually accentuated the mountain ridges of the Kopetdag, thus highlighting the greatness of the Motherland.

Here is a remarkable work by A.Nuryyev, At the Training Site.A group of soldiers makes a short stop after a tactical exercise. To spend their time productively, the defenders of the Fatherland become engrossed in an article from a local newspaper.

The painting grabs a gazer’s attention with how the soldiers’ fallow army uniform melts into the sandy dunes. This way the author symbolically emphasized the servicemen’s unity with their native land.

The painting by the people’s artist of Turkmenistan, Gennady Babikov, The Old Pathfinder, depicts an episode of life in a border area. The patrol finds a suspicious trail on the snow.

A pathfinder from the nearest village is invited to the incident site to consult the border guards.Nikolay Chervyakov’s painting, Visiting a Pathfinder, is about friendship between border guards and local elders.

Young guards are listening to the stories that their indispensable assistant is telling over a cup of tea in the garden.Looking at how the boys are grasping his every word, how their eyes are fixed on his awards, it is easy to guess that the old man and his guests will have to answer many questions that will come from curious girls and boys.

The specific of this themed exposition is that the paintings are filled with the characters’ emotions, they exude optimism.Visitors attending the museum show great interest in the art collection dedicated to the history of the National Army and the daily life of brave defenders of the Fatherland who continue the heroic legacy of our ancestors.
