DABS Seeks to Begin Work on TAP and CASA-1000 Projects

Officials of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) stated that efforts are underway to begin work on Central Asia- South Asia 1000 MW power project (CASA-1000) and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) Power Interconnection Project, as reported by the TOLOnews television network on Tuesday.

During the meeting of DABS officials at the government media and information center, Abdul Rahman Rahmani, head of the commercial department of DABS, said that 39 projects worth 72 billion Afghanis are being implemented in the country.

According to Afghanistan's Radio Television's Twitter statement, the Afghanistan Electricity Company, during 1444 (August 2022-July 2023), the Afghanistan Electricity Company purchased electricity from neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, and Turkmenistan. The latter received $56 million in payments.

On May 10, the Turkmen delegation from the Head of the Department of International Electricity Projects of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, Myrat Artykov, and Turkmen Ambassador to Afghanistan, Hoja Ovezov, along with representatives of DABS and Turkish holding Çalık reviewed the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri 500 kV transmission line project.
