As ORIENT has already wrote, the Cambridge University Publishing House organized an online conference for educators and distributors, which took place from 26 to 28 January. More than 100 specialists from all over the world took an active part in the event, including teachers of the Dalchin educational center.
The main topic on the second day of the conference was “Digitalization in the educational process and updating a learning material”.Experts of the Cambridge University Kasia Brzoska and Roxana Herescu told about digitalization in pedagogy.
During the presentation, Roxana emphasized the development of cognitive skills in learning English as a second language, while Kasia Brzoska demonstrated the transformation of conventional into digital teaching methods.
Examples of using kinesthetic methods in online classes were also shown.
In addition, new trends in the practice of examinations and testing were discussed.Leading Cambridge Assessment experts John McNeill and Victoria Watkins acted as speakers in this area.
The participants were presented the Test & train application which helps students prepare for exams as efficiently as possible, facilitating the work of teachers and developing skills in self-education and self-improvement.
Victoria Watkins spoke about the growing popularity in the world of the international test LinguaSkill, developed by Cambridge Assessment.Linguaskill is a module online test that assesses all four language skills: reading, listening comprehension, writing and speaking.
The test makes it possible to choose the skill that needs to be tested and assessed. It is suitable both for those wishing to enroll in universities and for employers to assess language proficiency.
It is noteworthy that recently the Dalchin Center has signed an agreement with Cambridge Assessment, the developers of the Linguaskill test, and now this test can be taken in Turkmenistan.
The second day of the conference was closed by the presentations by Geraldine Fichard and Anna Ball, who spoke about the promotion of an updated content of educational literature for primary and secondary school students.
The experts emphasized that the pandemic and the subsequent transition to distance learning in many countries of the world have resulted in a rapid growth of demand for online technologies in education and a shift in emphasis to distance learning.
In the opinion of Dalchin teachers, the conference turned out to be very useful new teaching methods and aspects will be included in the educational practice of the center: the formation of metacognitive competencies in students through information visualization by means of online resources, the introduction of new methods of preparation for online testing, the use of updated online portal CLMS (Cambridge Learning Management System) and much more.
