FAVO band was founded in 2009 by bass clarinettist and violist Falk Breitkreuz and Volker Schlott who plays practically all musical instruments. From the conversation with the musicians I have found out that the name of the band contains two first letters of the names of its founders.
The duet made a tour to the eastern African countries by the invitation of the Goethe Institute. The trip was very successful and yet, Falk learn playing mbira and now, always use this African musical instrument. One of the compositions of the concert programme is dedicated to this instrument.
There are alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, flute, fortepiano, accordion, percussion and other among musical instruments played by Folker Schlott, besides, he is an excellent composer and arranger, author of more than 300 compositions.
Meeting Sander de Vinne was a turning point in the history of the band. From 2012, they started joint concert tours and participating in the festivals. The musicians explain their success by simple love of jazz…
Talented jazz singer Maysa Niyazova and percussionist Dovlet Ivanov playing conga performed together with German musicians.
Vocal duet of Maysa Niyazova and Sander de Vinne brilliantly performed the “Masquerade” and “Somewhere above the Rainbow” by Harold Arlene on the lyrics by Edgar Harburg. The performance of the singers was greeted with the storm of loud applauses.
“Armando’s Rumba” by Chick Corea, German national song “Because You Are the Most Loved” in the arrangement of Volker Schlott as well as jazz version of Turkmen song “Ayly Agsham” were performed by German Turkmen jazz band. Personal charm of the musicians, their artistic energy and improvised disengagement supported emotional exchange between the musicians and the audience.
The concert, which presented the meeting with colourful variety of jazz compositions and high performance skills to Ashgabat citizens, was organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan.
