Coca-Cola Turkmenistan resumes operations

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that Coca-Cola Turkmenistan has resumed operations of its bottling facility and production of soft drinks in Ashgabat.

It became known in November that Coca-Cola Turkmenistan was on the brink of the shutdown and ceased its operations.

In early December Radio “Azatlyk” also reported that the bottling facility shut down production and dismissed staff.

However, representatives of the Turkey-based Coca-Cola İçecek, which is the owner of Coca-Cola Turkmenistan, reported that they had no plans of curtailing their operations in Turkmenistan.

The discontinued operations in November resulted in a price hike for the remaining stock. For example, a 1 liter bottle of Coca Cola” was sold at 8-9 manats.

For the time being the price for beverages remain the same: three manats per 1 liter and four manats for a 1,5 litter bottle.

Let us recall that the company had difficulty with foreign currency conversion and the problems with importing drinks ingredients into Turkmenistan as well as the pressure exerted by local business entities, which are affiliated with the authorities.
