Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldy Shamuradov took part in the 35th meeting of the Council for Cultural Cooperation of the CIS Member States held today, November 18, in videoconferencing format.
The meeting was also attended by official representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The meeting, coordinated by the CIS Executive Committee from Minsk, considered ways to enhance cultural exchange, implementation of previously scheduled joint events and issues of holding the upcoming ones, including the International Exhibition “Art Expo” that due to be held in 2020-2022.
The International Exhibition “Art Expo” is a review of the achievements of CIS countries in the field of culture and art cinema, theater, music, fine arts, folk art, printed and electronic items, etc. At the same time, the exhibition is an open event that allow the participation of other non-CIS countries.
The main tasks of this art project are to create new platforms for establishing creative contacts, to develop and popularize national cultures, to support the cultural diversity and deepening intercultural dialogue, as well as to expand the market for cultural services and products.
In addition, the members of the Council discussed the development of a draft Action Plan dedicated to the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage, which is planned to be announced in the CIS in 2022.
Let us recall that the President of Turkmenistan put forward an initiative to proclaim 2021 as the Year of Architecture and Construction, within which various thematic events are planned.
The meeting participants generally approved the draft Concept of the Virtual Museum of Cultural Heritage of the CIS countries. At the website of the CIS Executive Committee, there is a section, a cataloguer of museums that have virtual expositions on their web resources. Turkmenistan is represented there by the State Museum of the State Cultural Center.
The Council’s members also considered issues of international cooperation of art universities of the CIS member states, cooperation in the preservation and restoration of written heritage, popularization of national cultures and a number of other issues.
It was decided the hold the next meeting of the Council for Cultural Cooperation of the CIS Member States in 2021 in the Republic of Belarus as part of its chairmanship in the CIS.
