Chinese woman has been using a live grenade as a hammer for decades

In Hubei Province, China, a 90-year-old woman surnamed Qin used a hand grenade as a household tool for 20 years, unaware of its true purpose. Mail.ru reports this.

Qin discovered a “strange metal object with a wooden handle” in her field about two decades ago. Mistaking it for a homemade hammer, she began using the find for various household needs: cracking nuts, chopping peppers and hammering nails.

The true nature of the object was only recently revealed when workers demolishing an old house identified it as a hand grenade. It turned out that all this time the pensioner had been using a live ammunition, risking her life with each use.

The police quickly responded to the report and seized the dangerous item. Experts confirmed that it was a Type 67 grenade containing explosives. The ammunition was destroyed and Qin is now safe.
