Chinar Rustemova called on UNESCO clubs in Turkmenistan to intensify translations of Magtymguly’s poems

The Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi recently hosted a briefing for the leaders and activists of UNESCO clubs created at a number of higher educational institutions in the country.

The event was held with the support of the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Chinar Rustemova, as reported in the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.In her speech to the audience, Chinar Rustemova focused on the tasks facing UNESCO university clubs.

She recalled that last year the collection of manuscripts of the Turkmen philosopher and poet Magtymguly was included in the UNESCO International Memory of the World List, and the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi was included in the UNESCO List of Memorable Dates, which indicates widespread celebration at the international level of this significant date and organizing an impressive series of comprehensive events dedicated to it.

In this context, Chinar Rustemova placed special emphasis on the importance of translating many of Magtymguly Fragi’s poems into various languages of the world, which makes it possible to expand the international readership of fans of his unique literary heritage.

Addressing the participants of the briefing, Chinar Rustemova also emphasized that it is necessary to further intensify translation activities, thereby providing an opportunity for further dissemination of Magtymguly Fragi’s poetry and his important value priorities for the formation of a harmonious personality in the world.
