Parents of children, born first on May 25, during the Day of Ashgabat and the celebration of its 140th anniversary, will receive gifts from the President of the country. The head of state said this at a Cabinet meeting of Turkmenistan held on Friday via videoconference.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed one more idea concerning symbolic names for the first babies born on this special day, offering to name a boy Paytagt or Ashgabat, and a girl Merjen or Maya.
The word Paytagt in the Turkmen language means “capital” and Merjen is translated as “pearl”, a beautiful epithet often added to Ashgabat, implying its white marble architectural splendor and bright style. The names Ashgabat and Maya speak for themselves.
According to the Turkmen leader, this will be a sign of recognition of love and pride for the capital city.
