Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan and National Leader of the Turkmen People, visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 11-12 and met with the country’s President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister for Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The UAE President greeted Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the Al Shati Palace, saying that the visit of the Halk Maslakhaty Chairman and the meetings planned within its framework are of great importance in the context of further strengthening and development of interstate relations, the official Turkmen media reported on Sunday.
The Halk Maslahaty Chairman thanked the UAE President for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings and good wishes from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The sides stated that bilateral cooperation in energy, transport-communications sector, road maintenance system, industrial cooperation, agriculture, shipbuilding, IT and implementation of major projects with UAE financial institutions has been actively developing. The officials outlined the fuel-energy sector among the priority areas of bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of Turkmen People invited Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit Turkmenistan at any time convenient for him.
A meeting between Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed major aspects of bilateral cooperation, including boosting cooperation in fuel-energy, oil refining and investment areas.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized that the UAE attaches great importance to mutually beneficial and effective cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that the two countries have all necessary conditions and opportunities to take bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level, adding that Turkmenistan is ready to significantly expand mutually beneficial cooperation with the UAE companies in the fuel-energy sector.
At the end of the meeting, the Halk Maslahaty Chairman invited Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit Turkmenistan with his family at any convenient time.
As part of his visit, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also visited Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, and presented the mosque with a holy book of Koran and a prayer rug.
After thanking Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the beautiful gift, the mosque’s management also presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with a wonderful book containing photographs and information on the unique mosques of the world.
