The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is taking part in a meeting of heads of delegations in the “SCO+” format in Astana, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The forum, held within the framework of the regular Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), is attended by leaders of member states and countries that have the status of observers and dialogue partners with the Organization. The heads of international and regional organizations, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, are also invited to the forum.
It is worth noting that the SCO is an intergovernmental international organization operating on a permanent basis.The main objectives of its activities are strengthening peace, security and stability in the region, consolidating common efforts to counter the threats and challenges of our time, developing positive dialogue in the political sphere, productive trade, economic, scientific and technical partnership, fruitful cultural and humanitarian ties.
This year, the chairmanship of the SCO is held by the Republic of Kazakhstan.
