Central Election Commission Registers Serdar Berdimuhamedov as Presidential Candidate

The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums (Central Election Commission) of Turkmenistan on Tuesday registered the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Serdar Berdimuhamedov as a candidate for the highest state post of Turkmenistan.

During the event at the Central Election Commission, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, after being registered as a candidate for the post of President, was presented with the appropriate certificate.

Following his registration, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said, if he is elected President of Turkmenistan, he will apply all his strength, knowledge, experience and abilities to justify the trust by actual work carried out for the welfare and happiness of the people and the country.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov was nominated for the country’s highest government post by the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan at its extraordinary congress held in Ashgabat on Monday.

Early presidential elections in Turkmenistan will take place in March 12.
