Central Asian Countries’ Transport Ministers to Meet in Dushanbe

Transport ministers of Central Asian countries will meet for the first time on September 13 this year in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe.

The meeting will take place within the framework of the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which will take place on September 14-15, according to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.

The Turkmen side at the meeting is expected to be represented by Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammetkhan Chakiyev.

The first meeting of the transport ministers of the Central Asian states is expected to present and approve a draft Agreement on strengthening ties in the field of land transport in Central Asia. This agreement is planned to be signed within the framework of the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.

The Agreement aims to create favorable conditions for international transportation, a competitive environment in the services market, increase efficiency and the formation of new corridors, simplify the transportation process, develop transport and logistics services and introduce innovations in these areas.

Following the meeting, the transport ministers of the five countries will adopt a Joint Communiqué. In addition, Dushanbe will host bilateral meetings between the ministers of transport of the countries of the region.
