Celebrations for the platinum jubilee of Elizabeth II reign began in the UK

In honor of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, signal beacons were lit in the UK and 54 other states, informs “MIR24”. The Queen herself gave the start of the ceremony, which was held in the courtyard and on top of the Round Tower of Windsor Castle.

For the event, a model of the globe was made of silver, platinum and gold, on which only the countries of the British Commonwealth are indicated. After Elizabeth II touched the precious gift, a sculptural composition called the Tree of Trees lit up with the light of thousands of lights.

As notes the publication, during the ceremony, signal lights continued to be lit throughout the country, including in the Tower of London, on Hadrian’s Wall, in royal castles in Scotland and Northern Ireland and on four of the highest mountain peaks in the UK.

The celebrations will be held in the UK for four days.
