Carpet weavers from Dashoguz velayat started creating new carpet canvases

The craftswomen of the Dashoguz carpet weaving enterprise of the State Association “Türkmenhaly” and its branches in the region have begun work on new carpet canvases, which will be based on an old ornament (göli).

Most of these works will be presented at the national creative competition for the President's Prize “Türkmeniň Altyn asyry”, reports “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

Craftswomen Durli Begjanova, Tyazegul Purenova and Annagul Podarova, continuing the traditions of national carpet weaving, creatively approached the embodiment of the idea, combining various ornaments in a new way, choosing an unusual color scheme for new carpets. Thus, the pistachio color, according to the carpet weavers, embodies the flavor of the Turkmen spring.

The workers of the Gubadag branch make a significant contribution to the popularization of the national traditions of Turkmen hand-made carpet weaving in the world. Their works participate in various competitions and exhibitions, and local craftswomen, including Annagul Podarova, have already become laureates of the “Türkmeniň Altyn asyry” award.

The workers of this collective recently became the winners of the qualifying stage of the velayat competition held in honor of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence by the State Association “Türkmenhaly” together with the National Center of Trade Unions and the Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan, the source said.
