Representatives of our country took part in the 58th International Children Mathematics Olympiads, which was held in Rio-de-Janeiro and brought together 615 intellectuals from 112 countries like Russia, USA, France, Japan, China, Germany, Poland, Argentina, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand and other.
High-school students of comprehensive school no. 57 and State Boarding School for Gifted Children was accompanied by mathematics teacher Arslan Hojiyev. According to the teacher of talented children’ school, the tasks of the competition of prestigious Brazilian tournament was very complicated.
Young Turkmen mathematicians demonstrated good level of knowledge during two theoretical rounds having won two bronze medals. The prizes were won by Jepbar Asgarov (State Boarding School for Talented Children) and Resul Mamiyev (school No. 57 of the capital). Other four children Akmurat Tirkeshov, Rustem Gurbanberdiyev, Rahman Agamuradov and Agamurat Begenjov were awarded with special diplomas.
This was not the first international success for the most of the kids. Jepbar Asgarov has 5 prizes already, two of which are silver medals. Resul Mamiyev has one prize less silver and three bronze medals. Rahman Agamuradov has three bronze medals and agamurat begenjov and Akmurat Tirkeshov have one each.
As per tradition, an informative cultural and excursion programme was organized for the participants of the contest.It allowed the children to get better knowledge about mentality and way of life of Brazilian people and meet new friends.
Young mathematicians saw the palces of interest of Rio-de-Janeiro, visited Maracana stadium, which hosted the final of2 014 Football Cup.Short but unforgettable rest on Atlantic coast was one of brightest memories of the kids.
