On 17 September 2019, a briefing dedicated to the adoption of the Resolution “2021 — International Year of Peace and Confidence” by the UN General Assembly and Declaration of the Chair on the outcomes of the first Caspian Economic Forum as the document of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly was held in the conference-hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The briefing was attended by heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of Turkmenistan abroad, heads and employees of the embassies and representative offices of international organizations working in Turkmenistan, representatives of local and foreign media accredited in the country, political scientists.
During the speeches, they spoke about the unanimous adoption by the Member States at the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly of the Resolution “2021 — International Year of Peace and Confidence” put forward by Turkmenistan.
The words of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov were quoted during the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, “Turkmenistan believes that the current session of the General Assembly is designed to help overcome the crisis of confidence and strengthen mutual understanding among member states.
In this regard, Turkmenistan is taking the initiative to hold the year under the sign of peace and trust.”
The co-sponsors of this resolution were 73 States. Speakers emphasized that partnership with the UN allows Turkmenistan to realize its neutral status as an important factor in regional stability and security. A video on the initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan was also shown to the participants of the briefing.
In addition, it was noted that the latest evidence of the relevance of the international initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was the adoption as a document of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly and the publication in the official UN languages of the Declaration of the Chair on the outcome of the first Caspian Economic Forum held in August this year in Avaza.
