On 10 October a two day session of the Elders Council was completed in Turkmenistan.
Unlike the first day, the second day was not marked by any ambitious statements. Primarily, the proposals and initiatives put forward a day earlier were adopted and the ceremonies to award the head of state and elders were held.
In the course of the session President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov announced that contemporary Turkmenistan is ranked among developed countries in some indicators. However, no mention of these indicators was made.
The year 2018 will pass under the slogan “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silver Road”.

The Speaker of the Parliament Akja Nurberdyeva announced new amendments to the Constitution and the adoption of laws “On the People’s Council of Turkmenistan” and “On making amendments to the Constitution of Turkmenistan”.
The head of state signed a decree on сonvening the first session of the Khalk Maslakaty, which is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat.
At the meeting President Berdymukhammedov approved the changes made in the Code of Land Use. It is noted that this will attract entrepreneurs to the agricultural sector.
The head of state officially abolished free quotas for public utilities and approved rates for gas, electricity, public utilities, transportation and communication services.
President Berdymukhammedov was proclaimed the hero of Turkmenistan for the second time and awarded the medal Altyn Aý. The decision on awarding the title to the President was made by the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan.
The news outlet Lenta.ru reports that the title will allow President Berdymukhammedov to use public transport free of charge.

Moreover, athletes from Turkmenistan’s national team awarded the head of sate a set of medals (gold, silver and bronze) from the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games which were held in Ashgabat in September.

Several citizens of the country received merit awards for their “contribution in implementing ambitious reforms for the benefit of the Motherland”.

Upon completion of the meeting, a concert was held in the concert hall.
According to the state information agency TDH “in a standing ovation the attendees welcomed the President of Turkmenistan who in his multi-faceted activities is paying special attention to the development of culture, preserving and enriching indigenous traditions of national art, encouraging and supporting talented individuals.
Comprehensive care by the head of state inspires artists to create wonderful new works of art”.
