Made up of young musicians, the string orchestra under Takhir Ataev has already made a name for itself in the music scene. The spirit of innovation and experimentation has allowed the chamber music performers to offer an original interpretation of cult rock hits in a concert program entitled Bohemian Rhapsody’. - We strive to go far beyond conventional genres in music, said conductor Takhir Ataev in an interview, - to demonstrate the breadth of skills and versatility of our orchestral musicians.
The evening of music dedicated to the rock band Queen is not only the tribute to Freddie Mercury and his extraordinary talent, but also the opportunity to showcase diverse vocal abilities of Turkmen singers.
The event program called up associations with an Impressionist painting being produced with vibrating colorful brushstrokes...Sergey Sirotkin’s The Russian Samovar’ created a positive and warm atmosphere in the concert hall.
Arno Babajanyan’s emotional and exquisite Nocturne’ and songs from Murad Sadykov’s and Lev Oshanin’s repertoire were touchingly and soulfully sung by Kakajan Khaldurdyev.
Performed by the orchestra, Astor Piazzolla’s Trembita’ was greeted with rapturous applause, indicative of the deep involvement and close interaction between the musicians and listeners.John Lennon’s Imagine’, sung by talented singer Bakhar Durdyeva, captivated the audience with its intense changing tonal patterns.
The crowning moment of the concert came with songs by Queen. One of the signature songs, Bohemian Rhapsody’, lent its name to the new concert program.Alexander Kochetov literally stormed onstage, realistically playing the air guitar.
His personal charm, charisma and strong singing voice won everyone’s hearts. Those present at the concert sang along, clapped the singer enthusiastically, sharing his love for the legendary rock band, and created light effects shining flashlights on their mobile phones.
The concert came to a close, but the crowd just kept clapping and did not let the bass-baritone with the rich resonant singing voice, and Alexander, responding to the audience’s wishes, sang the song We Will Rock You’ as an encore.
On this upbeat note, the musicians bid farewell to the listeners leaving them with the feeling of joy after the concert featuring the new interpretations of rock music.
Here are a few words about the singers.Kakajan Khaldurdyev: As a child, I got sick frequently. But going to the sea and regular sports activities helped me to live a full life.
Then, I took up weightlifting and achieved good results in the sport, but later I went in for wrestling...My mother wanted me to be a singer and insisted on my entering Danatar Ovezov Music School.
For the record, my mother, Gulistan Khaldurdyeva, is an opera singer and a teacher at the Music School (the department of vocal studies).I had to give up wrestling, but I am deeply grateful to my coaches, who have taught me to progress further en route to victory despite obstacles and hardships.
Bakhar Durdyeva: I have been on stage since I was a child. My singing talent was spotted in kindergarten. After finishing music school (where I studied piano), I entered the Music Conservatory, the department of vocal studies with fewer student enrollments and not so intense competition for places.
I planned to transfer to the piano department later. However, I fell in love with singing and wanted to become a singer.A good knowledge of English - I studied it on my own and also took English courses - makes it easy for me to perform famous songs in the language.
If, for whatever reasons, I had not become a singer, I would have become an interpreter. As I have a fine ear for music I can reap the benefits of learning foreign languages quickly.
When I was in England, I was often complimented on my good pronunciation.Alexander Kochetov: - I have become a musician since I was born into a creative family: my father is a television cameraman, and my mother is a television producer.
As a child I used to sing in the church choir.I am a professional trumpet player, but I also play the bass guitar and percussion instruments. It is a satisfaction to know that my performances bring enjoyment to listeners.
When I found out that Takhir Ataev was organizing the concert to celebrate Queen, I just could not stay away. This is my favorite rock band.I am delighted that the concert was filled with the driving rhythms of music and generated such an enthusiastic response from the audience.
