Beware of the stairs: Cambridge University has put up rules for using stairs

Cambridge University has taken unusual steps to reduce accidents: information posters with instructions on how to safely use stairs have appeared across campus. The creative warning includes an image of a fallen man with a mobile phone and a call for vigilance, “MIR 24” reports with reference to the Sun.

The posters contain a clear message: “Be careful when using the stairs. Keep your head up, put your phone away! Don't let another accident happen”. Moreover, the administration has added a special digital code for reporting incidents or potentially dangerous situations.

The students' reaction to the new rule has been mixed. Some view the posters ironically, calling them patronising and demeaning. “Why are they treating the brightest young people in Britain like brainless idiots?” - the students are indignant.

University representatives explained the appearance of the posters by the increasing number of falls on the stairs. “The university takes the health of its employees and students seriously”, - the administration said.
