Berdymukhammedov replaces Turkmenistan’s Minister of Justice

The state information agency TDH reports that on 4 October, 2021 President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov replaced the Minister of Adalat (Justice).

The former Minister Begmurat Mukhamedov was reassigned to a different position in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mukhamedov, appointed in February 2017, worked over five years in this position.

Merettagan Taganov was appointed the New Minister of Justice. In April 2021 Taganov, who occupied the position of the Deputy Minister of Justice at that time, was elected the Chairperson of the Committee for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms.

Batyr Myradov, who had previously occupied the position of the Deputy Prosecutor of Balkan velayat, was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice.

The reasons behind the reshuffle were not mentioned but according to TDH, all appointments have been approved by Halk Maslahaty (the Upper Chamber of Turkmenistan’s Parliament).
