Berdymukhammedov orders his son to increase budget revenue and reprimands the Minister of Finance

The state information agency TDH reports that at the Cabinet session held on 5 November, 2021 Deputy Prime Minister overseeing economy, banking and international financial organizations Serdar Berdymukhammedov gave a positive progress report to sum up his performance over the past 10 months.

According to the report of the Deputy Prime Minister, in the reporting period GDP rose by 6,2% and the volume of industrial production and trade turnover, including foreign trade, also increased.

The son of the head of state also reported on construction-in-progress and facilities scheduled to be opened on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence.

President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov in his turn ordered the Prime Minister to monitor the national economy, to make a forecast of projected economic indicators and hold a meeting with employees of construction and oil and gas sectors.

In addition, Berdymukhammedov senior instructed that measures be undertaken with the view of increasing revenues, searching for additional funding of the adopted programs, attracting investments, controlling the volume of government expenditure and their efficiency.

At the Cabinet session held on 30 October, 2021 Turkmenistan’s Parliament adopted the federal budget for 20222 and approved the execution of the 2020 budget.

Serdar Berdymukhammedov was charged with putting together the 2022 Economic Development Program together with all Deputy Prime Ministers, which should be based on reliable investments.

“Each ministry and federal agency must have a detailed plan for the year 2022”, – the head of state highlighted.

As a result, for the President issued a severe reprimand to the Minister of Finance and Economy Mukhammetgeldy Serdarov for improper execution of job-related responsibilities and shortcomings at work. Serdar Berdymukhammedov was not admonished.

In September 2021 the head of state met with Serdar Berdymukhammedov and Mukhammetgeldy Serdarov and charged them with preparing the 2020 state budget, which should take into account accelerated import substitution, setting up electronics production facilities, privatization of public property and digitalization.

The previous “severe reprimand with the final warning” was issued to Serdarov in February 2021 at the meeting to sum up the government’s performance in 2020.
