On 13 March the official visit of Turkmenistan’s President to Kuwait kicked off when the meeting between Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was held.
The heads of both state highlighted fuel and energy complex and manufacturing industry as key areas for cooperation.
“The sides discussed the opportunity to establish cooperation with Kuwait-based oil and gas companies, investment and financial agencies within the framework of the TAPI construction.Petrochemistry and oil refining enterprises could also become prospective partnership areas”, — the state information agency TDH reports.
Among other priority areas are attracting financial and industrial groups of Kuwait to participate in the construction of the facilities in the national recreation zone “Avaza”, according to the news outlet.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Berdymukhammedov invited Kuwait to participate in the modernization of the Turkmen fuel and energy complex.
TDH reported that “prospects for establishing business contacts are created by the strategy of fuel and energy complex modernization, which is underway in Turkmenistan”.
In his turn, the Prime Minister “supported the initiatives of the Turkmen leader emphasizing the huge significance of the construction of TAPI, the railroad Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan railroad and declared that Kuwait’s business community is ready to participate in the projects which are being implemented”.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov also met with Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Board Chairman of the Kuwait Fund of Arabic Economic Development Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
In the course of conversation, the issues pertaining to Turkmenistan-Kuwait cooperation in investment, trade and economic, energy, transportation and communication areas were raised.
It was highlighted that huge hydrocarbon reserves of both countries are the reason of mutual interest for cooperation in developing and exporting energy resources to global markets.
