The state information agency TDH reports that on 12 March, 2020 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov visited Lebap velayat and controlled the performance of the Garlyk mining and refining facility which manufactures potassium fertilizers.
The head of state expressed extreme discontent with the state and unprofitability of the Garlyk mining and refining facility and placed the blame on the Belarus-based open joint stock company “Belgorkhimprom”.
At the same time, a severe reprimand with the final warning was issued to Nyyazly Nyyazlyev, Chairperson of the state holding “Turkmenkhimia”, which served as a construction project owner.
Berdymukhammedov demanded that the situation be remedied and ordered to ensure the manufacturing facility operate at the projected capacity and, according to TDH, “gave precise instructions pertaining to the efficient management of the facility”.
Let us recall that in 2018 Nyyazlyev received three reprimands, including a severe reprimand with the final warning due to the insufficient output of mineral fertilizers for the agricultural complex.
A week ago Deputy Prime Minister overseeing construction and industry Shamukhammet Durdylyev was charged with the task of undertaking measures to improve the efficiency of “Turkmenkhimia” operations thanks to active introduction of state-of-the-art technologies and scientific developments.
The mining and refining facility worth $1,1 billion was commissioned on 31 March 2017 However, over the past three years the facility did not reach the projected capacity.
As of late 2018, the facility’s output was just over 2% of the projected volume of fertilizers.
“Turkmenkhimia”and “Belgorkhimprom” hold each other liable for the fact that the facility stands idle and intend to take the case to the court.
