On 27 June, 2021 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held a working session with executives of Turkmenistan’s Extraordinary Commission on combatting the spread of disease and COVID-19 response, the state information agency TDH reports.
The head of state emphasized that the number of people diagnosed with new variants of coronavirus is currently on the rise across the globe.Then Minister of Healthcare Nurmukhammed Amannepesov presented the draft project “Procurement of a more efficient vaccine”.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov signed it and ordered to replenish the stock, set up a reserve stock of 1,5 miliion new, more efficient vaccines.The name of the vaccine was not mentioned.
Update. Pursuant to the document, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Healthcare has been authorized to sign an agreement with China National Biotec Group Company (CNBG) on purchasing COVID-19 medication Sinopharm, according to the news outlet Turkmenportal.
The President reminded that up to this date no COVID-19 cases have been identified.
Switching to the operations of the national recreational area “Avaza”, the head of state was quoted as saying that a decision was made to replace its executives with the view of boosting its performance and signed the document to approve the members of the Extraordinary Commission on combatting the spread of disease.
The President instructed that during a vacation season and taking into account the dry climate of Turkmenistan preventive measures be undertaken: residents need to keep social distancing, wear masks and follow basic hygiene requirements.
Also, on a daily basis bacteriological testing of seawater and air need to be carried out and the public health situation should be monitored in Avaza.
Deputy Minister of the Interior and the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee Ovezdurdy Khodzhaniyanov was instructed to exercise control over the issuance of permits providing authorized access of individuals to the recreational area based on their IDs, provide parking of special vehicles at specially designated parking lots and issue entrance permits to special vehicles.
Later the same day the session of the Turkmenistan’s Extraordinary Commission on combatting the spread of disease and COVID-19 response was held.It was emphasized that it is essential to ensure sufficient quantity of testing kits, disinfectants and other medications as well as to provide special protective equipment and observe personal hygiene requirements.
At the session of the Commission held on 14 May Nurmukhammed Amannepesov briefed the attendees that all necessary diagnostic materials and supplies were available in sufficient quantity and their reserve stock was set up a total of three vaccines from Russia and two vaccines from China as well as two PCR machines were supplied to Turkmenistan.
Based on the television footage from the session of Turkmenistan’s Extraordinary Commission on combatting the spread of disease and COVID-19 response it can be seen that all participants are wearing masks.
The same news broadcast showed the coverage of celebrations at the Day of Cultural Workers. The participants of numerous events held across the country were not wearing any masks.
