The state information agency TDH reports that on 12 February, 2021 at the Cabinet session President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov charged Deputy Prime Minister overseeing science, healthcare and spots Mammetmyrat Geldyniyazov with finalizing the national program “Saglyk” (“Health”) envisaging the construction of new hospitals and research and clinical centres in Turkmenistan’s regions.
Moreover, the head of state emphasized that research and development centres for virology, bacteriology and epidemiology need to be built. It has not been specified whether these centres will be built in provinces as the aforementioned hospitals.
These centres should be designed to carry out advanced scientific research in the fields of epidemiology, molecular microbiology and immunology as well as review reasons behind endemic diseases, the spread of infections and preventive measures.
Two weeks ago the сonstruction project for the International Сlinical Research Centre of Physiology was presented to Berdymukhammedov.
The Centre is designed to study diseases which typically occur in the region, upper respiratory tract infections, the negative impact of the Aral Sea Zone to people’s health and healing qualities of medicinal herbs.
In September 2020 the President paid a visit to the construction site of a new health resort in the village of Bagabat and instructed that a new Clinical Research Centre of Virology, Bacteriology and Epidemiology be built here.
