During the official visit of the delegation from St. Petersburg to Turkmenistan, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov visited the memorial complex “People's Memory” (Halk hakydasy), which immortalized the memory of national heroes - defenders of the Fatherland and victims of the devastating Ashgabat earthquake of 1948, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports today.

The head and members of the delegation of the Northern capital of the Russian Federation honored the memory of the soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War by laying wreaths and flowers at the monument dedicated to the Victory.

The memorial complex with an area of 650 thousand square meters was opened on October 6, 2014.
