Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that rural residents engaged in fairy farming and selling milk and dairy products have been denied entry to Ashgabat.

Residents of etraps of Kaka and Gökdepe as well as villages of Yashlyk and Babadurmaz, which are close to Ashgabat, are prevented by the police to board intercity buses en route to Ashgabat in order to sell milk and dairy products.

Law enforcement officers refer to the decision of the authorities, which is related to COVID-19 preventive measures.

This has resulted in a price hike for milk in the capital. Local dairy products are also not always available. Over the past month the price for a 1.5 liter of milk has gone up from 9 to 12 manats.
