The reporting conference of the Basketball Federation of Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat, during which the main results of the development of this sport in the country in 2023 were announced.
The event was attended by veterans of Turkmen basketball, current players and coaches of national teams, referees, members of the governing bodies of the Federation and invited guests.
During the conference, it was noted that the past year was truly successful for Turkmen basketball. Athletes from national teams demonstrated high results on the international stage and improved the country’s position in the FIBA world rankings.
In addition, according to the Federation, the number of people wishing to engage in this popular sport is growing.
As part of the conference, a presentation of the autobiographical book of the Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Vagif Mamedov “The Sports Path that He Chose” took place, in which he shares the highlights of his sports career.
At the end of the year, Galkan was recognized as the best basketball club in Turkmenistan. Among the athletes, Ziba Hydyrova, Jennet Hajymammedova, Merdan Hojamedov and Dovlet Narmuradov distinguished themselves. Bahtiyar Ibragimov became the best referee.
