Athletes from Turkmenistan win the gold, silver and bronze medals of the World Nomad Games on the first day of the competitions

The athletes from Turkmenistan won three medals of the III World Nomad Games in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Our compatriot Annamyrat Myradov, a student of the National Institute for Tourism and Sports, won the gold medal in the over 100-kg weight category. Moreover, the winner got the right to participate in the “Battle of Nomads” tournament, one of the most significant events of the games.

Turkmen athletes Begench Yagmyrov (under 68-kg weight category) and Silapberdy Nuryev (under 82-kg weight category) won the second and third places.

The official ceremony of opening the III World Nomad Games took place in the city of Cholpon-Ata on the shore of Lake Issyk Kul.More than 1,500 artists took part in the colorful theatrical performance.

Over 1,200 mass media representatives provide coverage of the Games.In the framework of the tournament, the international ethnocultural festival “Nomads of The Universe” will take place.

Over 1,500 athletes from 60 countries will compete for the medals in 37 sports events. The national team of Turkmenistan has goods prospects for the victory given that two years ago, it took the second place in the Games.

The main goal of the World Nomad Games is to revive and preserve the national sports with the aim to popularize the ideas of the cultural diversity and deepen the international dialogue. Snow leopard has been recognized as the mascot for the the III World Nomad Games.

The Games will last until September 8.
