Ashgabat will host World Kurash Championship

The World Kurash Championship 2023 will be held in November in Ashgabat. The relevant Resolution was signed today by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the information program Watan of the Turkmen television reported.

The same document “in order to hold the World Kurash Championship in Ashgabat at a high level” created the Organizing Committee and approved its composition.

Last year, the World Kurash Championship was held in the Indian city of Pune, the awards of which were contested by representatives of 60 countries. Turkmenistan was represented by 13 wrestlers (7 men and 6 women), and three of them returned home with medals.

Silver in the team of Turkmenistan in the weight category up to 48 kg was won by the coach-teacher of the 2nd sports school of the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Lebap velayat Ayshirin Haydarova, and the bronze medals went to the coach-teacher of the 7th sports school of the Lebap velayat Aynur Amanova (up to 52 kg) and a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Aziz Kurbanova (up to 78 kg).
