Ashgabat to Host Turkmenistan-EU Cooperation Forum

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union (EU), a conference titled "30 Years of Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union: Joint Work for the Future" will be held in Ashgabat on May 14, 2024.

As reported by Turkmenistan's official media outlets, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov provided updates on the preparations for this event during a regular online government session on Friday.

According to Meredov's report, thematic sessions will address the development of inter-parliamentary relations between Turkmenistan and the EU, cooperation in the fields of security, trade, education, green energy, and the implementation of programs in these areas.

A press conference will also be organized to introduce new projects that will be implemented jointly with the European Union.

As part of the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding is expected to be signed between the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the State Concern Türkmengaz, and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) for the implementation of the project "Measures and Policy Dialogue on Climate Change for 20242028."

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the special importance of cooperation with the European Union. He instructed to hold a high-level conference commemorating the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan-EU cooperation.

During the government meeting, several issues concerning the country's affairs were discussed, and relevant decisions were made.
