President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Saturday at a meeting with Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ashgabat will host the Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Turkey summit this year to discuss intensification of interstate relations, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.
Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the timing of this event has been changed, the Head of State said, adding that Turkmen side is ready to organize this high-level meeting at any suitable time.
The Turkmen President also noted that Turkish businessmen are actively involved in large-scale reforms and implementation of international projects in Turkmenistan, and cited as an example the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line by Turkish Çalyk Enerji company.
The Head of State also noted that within the framework of Turkmenistan’s ECO chairmanship, on the day of the organization’ creation November 28 the ECO Summit will be held in Ashgabat.
President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey (Lapis Lazuli Corridor) transit and transport corridor, providing access to Europe, will bring enormous benefits to the countries of the region.
At the end of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu expressed confidence that the long-term interstate partnership will continue to develop dynamically.
