The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women marks the beginning of the “Unite” campaign, which began on November 25 and will end on December 10, International Human Rights Day.

The event in Ashgabat was aimed at drawing attention to the problem of all forms of violence against women and had the goal of demonstrating successful initiatives and strategies for preventing and combating violence, uniting the efforts of human rights defenders, public organizations, government agencies and businesses, and promoting the creation of new partnerships for the implementation of joint projects.

The platform was visited by representatives of public and international organizations, psychologists, lawyers, women’s rights activists, educational center specialists, journalists, entrepreneurs, students and young people as guests.

The participants of the meeting discussed such issues as: the potential of gender equality and the influence of women on socio-economic growth, legal protection and legal support for women, the role of NGOs and businesses in strengthening gender equality. Practices and implemented projects to empower women were considered.

All issues were actively discussed, many suggestions and comments were received from the participants of the platform for further improvement of work in this direction, ideas were voiced for uniting various sectors of civil society for more effective work in preventing various forms of violence.

In many ways, the discussion platform Building Dialogue Together served as an effective tool for establishing further cooperation between local non-profit organizations and businesses in the development of educational and social programs aimed at strengthening gender equality, as well as attracting best practices and standards in the fight against violence.

A job fair was held at the end of the panel discussions, where information was also provided on educational programs and trainings, as well as projects for women and girls from various local and international agencies.
