Ashgabat Hosts XXXIV Meeting of International Transit Tariff Treaty Parties

The XXXIV meeting of representatives of the parties to the International Transit Tariff (ITT) Treaty was held in Ashgabat on May 15 to improve and update the ITT Treaty, the official Turkmen media reported.

This document is an agreement between two dozen countries and establishes uniform rules and tariffs for cargo transportation by rail in transit regime.

Representatives of the Parties from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Czech Republic, the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OCR) Committee, and OSJD affiliated enterprises - OTKL ERA JSC, STM LLC, PLASKE JSC - took part in the forum held in Yyldyz Hotel.

During a three-day-conference, the representatives will discuss bilateral cooperation within the framework of OCR and the enlargement of the treaty-based legal framework of cooperation.

The signing of documents is envisaged to promote the productive cooperation between the Parties to the International Transit Tariff (ITT) Treaty, as well as its improvement and updating for the common welfare and progressive development.

In May 2022, Turkmenistan joined the Treaty on International Railway Transit Tariff.
