The sixth meeting of the Joint Working Group of the UN and the Government of Turkmenistan on the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic discussed the progress achieved in the implementation of the National Plan for Preparedness and Response to Acute Infectious Diseases for the past 9 months. The participants agreed to practice comprehensive report analyzing the lessons learned from the realization of the Plan.
Also, the meeting participants exchanged views on priority areas of activity, sketch out possible areas of cooperation for the next year.
UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko noted:
The National Plan for Preparedness and Response to Acute Infectious Diseases covers such aspects as strengthening the capacity of health workers, developing effective preventive measures, vaccination against COVID-19, and effecting treatment protocols in line with international standards.
We previously reported that as part of the implementation of the National Plan for Preparedness and Response to Acute Infectious Diseases, the UNICEF Country Office in Turkmenistan provided 5,400 hand sanitizer dispensers to the ministry of health care and medical industry and the ministry of education of Turkmenistan.
