On the occasion of the 207th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian poet, writer, artist, public and political figure Taras Shevchenko, on March 9, a solemn laying of flowers at his monument took place in Ashgabat.
Employees of the Embassy of Ukraine in Turkmenistan took part in the action, the official website of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission reports.
Recall that the monument to Taras Shevchenko by sculptor Mihail Lysenko is located in the historical center of Ashgabat.
The poet lived and worked for several years in the Transcaspian region, writing here over 160 poems, many of which were dedicated to the Turkmen land and imbued with warmth and love for its people.
A talented artist, Taras Shevchenko did not leave indifferent the majestic beauty of the Turkmen mountains, the bewitching harmony of monuments of national architecture, as evidenced by the landscapes he painted.
