Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Nov. 19

A delegation of Turkmenistan led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov is on a working visit to Berlin these days, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message.
The delegation has already held several meetings with Claudia Dorr-Voss, state secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and Joachim Bertele, the German Chancellor's counsellor for foreign policy and security.
During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation in various fields, including energy, transport, logistics and financial ones. In addition, a meeting was held with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, where it was noted that meetings at a high state level are an important factor in strengthening bilateral relations.
The visits of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Germany in 2008 and 2016 became an important stage in the expansion of Turkmen-German cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, the message said.
The parties also exchanged views on a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
In August, German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters that Germany was discussing a project to deliver Turkmen gas through the Caspian Sea.
The negotiations on the delivery of Turkmen gas to Europe have been conducted since 2011.
The project of laying a 300-kilometer gas pipeline along the bottom of the Caspian Sea to the shores of Azerbaijan is optimal for the delivery of Turkmen gas to the European market. Further, the Turkmen gas can be delivered to Turkey, which borders with European countries.
Turkmenistan declared its readiness to supply Europe with an annual volume of up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas over 30 years. It is expected that the gas supplies can be provided through the East-West gas pipeline, which begins on the large Turkmen "Galkynysh" field.
