Representatives of Turkmenistan will take part in the second international festival of folk art “One Belt, One Road - Great Wall”, which will be held in China from September 15 to 18.
According to the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, Turkmen folk art will be presented at the festival by the music and dance group of the State Institute of Culture of Turkmenistan.
The group included a teacher of the department “Organization of cultural and mass work” of the faculty of cultural heritage Merdan Abayev, the head of the educational theater Enejan Annageldiyeva and eight students of the institute.
The Turkmen participants will present in China the ancient Turkmen art of singing and dancing “Kushtdepdi”, included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recreate the atmosphere and traditions of the Turkmen Toy, other folk customs and rituals.
On September 15, Turkmen artists will take part in a grand gala concert in honor of the opening of the festival, followed by a series of public performances.
The festival aims to promote cultural exchange. The event, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Hebei Provincial Government in cooperation with the “Silk Road” International Arts Center, will be held at the “Silk Road” International Arts Center in Langfang, Hebei Province, North China.
